Companies and organizations can refer international employees to orthopedic treatment in three languages. Appointment, examination, and treatment are conducted directly between the practice and the patient.
Private practice and self-payment
Ortho Gronau treats privately insured patients as well as self-paying patients. A statutory health insurance is not required for appointment scheduling.
Billing and reimbursement
Our services are billed in accordance with the German Physicians’ Fees Regulation (GOÄ). You will receive an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company.

Questions from international patients
Do I need a referral?
As a rule, you can arrange an appointment directly at our private practice. However, health insurance may require a referral or prior approval.
Can I be treated even without German health insurance?
Yes. As a private practice, we treat patients who are insured by private health insurance companies as well as self-payers. You will receive an invoice according to the German Medical Fees Act (GOÄ), which you can submit to your insurance company.
Can X-ray and ultrasound examinations be performed directly?
Yes. Ultrasound and X-rays are available directly in the clinic, so usually no additional travel is necessary.
Do you treat acute injuries as well?
Yes. We diagnose and treat acute injuries such as sprains as well as ligament, muscle and tendon injuries. Please schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
Can I bring medical documents from abroad?
Yes. Please bring any existing findings, medical reports, and images with you to your appointment. We can discuss the documents in German, English, or Spanish directly with you.
